Where did the Pillars of Health come from?
After seeing a picture of myself at my wedding, I was not impressed with how I looked. I had let myself go. I thought I understood health and nutrition. I was strong and I was able to pass the Army's Fitness Test, but I was nowhere near healthy. I was nowhere near the person I knew I could be. How do we reach our goals? What is health? How can I navigate the health and wellness landscape? These questions were the start of my journey and the catalyst to this book. These days, there is so much information that we can easily get lost in the confusion. This book aims to answer these questions and more.
Many people get too caught up in the type of diet they need, the one food, the one trick, or the magic supplement to get the results they want. Most successful nutritional interventions actually have more in common than we might think - they cut out processed foods and focusing on quality, nutrient dense foods, and they are often coupled with some sort of consistent exercise regimen. If we all committed to this, we would likely see a drastic shift in health. But, is that enough?
Is simply eating less and moving more enough to get us to perform at our highest potential? I would actually argue that it will not. In breaking down health, I came up with what I have begun to call “The Pillars of Health”. Each of these pillars feeds off of the others, and by strengthening one pillar, we might begin to notice the others pillars solidifying as well. Where our minds go, the body will follow. These pillars are so intricately linked, that instead of breaking the book down into four separate sections, I decided on a habit based approach that can help build up all of the pillars. Get any of these pillars wrong and it will not take long to see our goals disappear into obscurity. It is my hope that this book will help you balance these pillars so that you may perform at your highest potential.

"Corey's approach to health and fitness is so refreshing. I oftentimes see people in his position take a dictatorial approach, fitting clients into a box without addressing things on an individual basis. Corey understands one of the most foundational pieces to wellness - each of us is unique and requires different nutritional & physical approaches. He provides in depth information while maintaining this understanding. He genuinely cares about health, and could care less about pushing HIS method"
